We also observed the annual cracking of the Peppermint Pig. Legend says that the pig is honored in Victorian holiday tradition as a symbol of good health, happiness and prosperity. We pass the pig, in a velvet bag, share what we've been thankful for in the closing year or what blessings we're hoping for in the new year. Then we each whack the pig with a little mallet. Afterwards, you enjoy the candy pieces. Strange, I know ... But it's a fun tradition. Our pups must have had quite the evening, too. While we were sadly watching the Razorbacks lose the Cotton Bowl, they were sleeping off their revelry late into the afternoon:

I've really enjoyed reading your blog. It's interesting to see all the quilting things you do.
Love the doggies snuggling together. Very sweet.
Aren't they cute? No wonder we were feeling lazy on New Year's Day! We certainly took a cue from them.
